From the late fall of 2001 until the end of 2007
director Sylvan Markman and collaborated on fifteen or
more projects, preparing presentations and doing pitch
meetings with scores of people at Hollywood agencies
and production companies. We came close to sales a
couple of times, just enough to get fed up with the
whole process. The result was an attempt at an end
around, PRIMETIME, an entertainment and information
series for people over 60. Around the New Year
financial partners presented the proposal to the Bank
Of New York. Twice. Before and after acquisition. Over
the summer an Olgivy & Mather exec was positive he
would come up with a sponsor among the ad agency's many
clients. He hasn't returned our phone calls. People at
the newly formed Retirement Channel said we had just
re-invented their whole network; therefore, they
couldn't use our material, but could we come up with a
couple of shows exclusively fro them? We did. But then
they said they had second thoughts about the subject
matter they had asked us to cover. And so on and so
forth until now we're up to another New Year. The
concept, I think, is still good, but I've reached a
point where, frankly, my dear, I don't give a damn.
